A temp gauge helps to make sure you are not accidentally running your engine too hot (lean). We opted for the on-board unit versus the heat gun as it was one less thing to carry into the field. Installation is simple and it works very well. It weighs almost nothing and gives you constant engine temperature readings (in C or F).

This is an excellent item to have if you are operating your RC truck in a region with a varied climate. We only wish it had a "highest recorded temperature" memory feature and a better mounting setup (minus 1 star).
