 T-MAXX UPGRADE - Hitech HS-625MG Super Torque Steering Servo |

After suffering with the slow and weak steering servos for the past year, we decided to take the plunge and upgrade to something stronger. Per the advice of our LHS, we decided to go with the Hi-Tec HS-625MG Super Torque servo. We bought two of these to upgrade two of our T-Maxx's. Installation is simple and it is a direct bolt in for the T. We ran into trouble on one of the trucks with it tearing up the standard Traxxas servo saver. We replaced the servo saver several times to no avail. The servo would simply strip out the plastic teeth on the saver. On this particular truck, we decided to quit fooling around and add the Pro-Line Steering upgrade, That took care of the problem. Oddly enough, the other "T" we installed this servo on had no difficulties at all! It worked beautifully with the standard servo saver. Just beware that you may also run into this problem if you upgrade to this servo. It's not the servo's fault really. It just seemed to be a bit strong for the saver. Well, how does it work? AWESOME. The Hi-Tec features 96 oz. of torque and has no trouble turning the big wheels. In fact, it made the trucks drive much differently! We had to get used to having instant and powerful steering response at all times (not a bad thing at all). The HS-625MG also features a metal gear train which HI-Tec says is "guaranteed to be un-breakable". We like that! It almost sounds like a challenge? The 625 also features ball bearings for smooth movement and long life. This servo is a great deal at about $38. Sure, it could be a bit stronger but at this price, it is a great deal. Also know there is a HS-645MG servo with more torque for about the same money. If you are looking for solid, responsive steering and you are on a budget, this is a decent servo.
