How
many gallons of fuel do you have through your truck? If it is more
than one, it's time to do a bearing check. We at BYT like to clean
and re-oil our bearings every gallon of fuel or more often if we have
been playing in the dunes. It goes without saying that the stock bearings
that come with almost any RC vehicle leave something to be desired.
Typically they are a metal shielded design and do an average to poor
job of keeping out foreign material. They are doomed to a short life
because of this.
We have been busy this winter in the BYT shop rebuilding that and
replacing this. When it came time to tear down one of our T-Maxx's
and rebuild the differentials, we started by pricing out replacement
diff bearings from Traxxas. OUCH!!!! I can't remember the exact cost
of the Traxxas diff bearings but it was way more than the entire FFRC
T-Maxx rubber sealed bearing kit! Unbelievable.
Well, needless to say it was a simple choice. Rebuild the diff's with
the stock metal shielded bearings or buy a complete rubber sealed
bearing kit for the entire truck. Hmmm...what would you do? Yeah,
that's what we did too. We hopped on the FullForce RC web site and
after a couple of clicks, our complete T-Maxx bearing set was on its
way. Three short days later, Mr. Mailman delivered the goods.
The set includes every bearing for the T-Maxx. EVERY bearing....including
the internal differential bearings (what we were after). We took every
bearing out of the kit and examined them closely. The rubber seals
fit very well inside the bearing races. Every bearing felt silky smooth
without a hint of roughness or noise. We looked but were unable to
find anything wrong with this kit, especially at the price FFRC is
offering them at.
Installing the bearings was a breeze. They fit snuggly into their
homes and allow our drive train spin smoother and easier than it has
in a long, long time. Yes my friends...something as simple as a bearing
kit can increase your trucks performance. Less resistance in the drive
train will help your truck get up to speed faster.
You can only clean and re-oil your stock bearings so many times before
it becomes a waste of time. Stop wasting your time with the stock
metal shielded junk bearings in your truck. For a mere $32 (yes...only
$32) you can get a complete rubber sealed bearing kit for your T-Maxx.
FFRC also offers bearing kits for the Savage and Mini-T.
Visit the FullForce
RC web site, get these bearings and start smoothing things out!
