   T-MAXX UPGRADE - CVEC EXHAUST HEADER AND PIPE SYSTEM  RATING:

This little beauty is a CVEC pipe with CVEC header system installed on a T-Maxx.

Installation is simple. The rear exhaust header allows the muffler to be mounted in the rear of the truck, with the pipe outlet coming out of your tailgate. All needed brackets, clamps, sealant etc is included with the kit. Or you can opt to mount the pipe only (as I have done with the OS engine shown in the picture to the left) and just angle it out the side of the body. The header seemed like an excellent setup however it gave us BIG problems. Oil would pool inside the header and created run problems for our engine. Not good. After some good advice (thanks OvalQueen), we went back to the stock header and kept the CVEC pipe. Good move! It has served our truck well. The rating listed above would be 5 stars if were not for the header.

The CVEC muffler features an adjustable internal baffle with 5 different settings (fuel efficient setting to an all out power setting). In the "all out" setting, the truck easily gained about 2-3 MPH on the top end and seems stronger all around. Sweet, sweet sweet!

It has an excellent sound and the performance is wonderful with the stock TRX .15 engine and the OS CV-X 15. It made both engines idle and run smoother. It also keeps the entire bottom of your truck from getting soaked with oil.

Please note: There is an earlier version of the CVEC pipe that has a slightly different shape (longer taper). We tried this style of pipe on another T-Maxx and had miserable results with it. It was impossible to tune no matter what we did. In our opinion, stay away from this earlier design!
